Access Statement

This statement is made to summarise access for both the Angel Inn and the Angel Barn Lodgings, sited across the road from the main Angel building.

Staff at the Angel are always willing to help with any particular needs a customer might have. We can, with prior notice, keep free the parking bay nearest to the front door until a wheelchair user arrives. This will help with the additional space needed to the side of a vehicle. The area around the front of the Angel is flagged and reasonably flat. There is no impediment at the front door for wheelchair access.

Bar Area

Throughout the bar area the floors are all level through to the corridor, where the ladies and gents toilets are located. Furniture is moveable in all areas and the staff would always find a suitable place for someone who needed more space.

Restaurant Area

There is a small step down from the main bar area to the restaurant of 11cm. This is the only step throughout the two areas of the restaurant. However, to access the corridor, where the ladies and gents toilets are located, there is a step up of 14cm.

In our newly refurbished ladies toilets, we now have one cubicle with an outward opening door for better access, with a hand bar on the left to assist. The doorway to these toilets is 66cm wide, with the particular toilet door 77cm wide. The doorway to the gents toilets is 60cm wide and the height of the urinal is 66cm. We are happy for gentlemen to use the larger facilities in the ladies toilets when necessary. There is a ladies toilet facility at the end of the larger room of the restaurant. Unfortunately, the access would be difficult for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre.

For Residents

Access to the reception area is through a door at the front of the restaurant of 82cm wide. There is a small step up of 4cm into this area. This entrance is also used to access the smaller restaurant room for breakfast.

Barn Lodgings

For access to the lodgings, there is the possibility of driving directly up to the door of the Bordley Suite. Bordley is the most suitable for disabled use and is accessed by an outer door of 85cm and an inner door of 80cm. The bathroom in Bordley has a wet room shower area of 115cm square and we can, on request, provide a small padded shower seat with arm rests. All bedrooms are furnished with small fridges which can be used for storing medication etc.
